Sir,

I have the honour to report that the

Marine Engineers Guild of China, in applying for registration under the Societies Ordinmce, 1911, have filed a copy of their! rules, which contain an ultimatum clause according to the copy enclosed.

I shall be glad to learn whether similar associations in the United Kingdom have rules of an equally peremptory character; and I would at the some time enquire whether and to what extent trades unions in the United Kingdom are subject to control in the matter of the making of rulos for the conduct of strikes.
